French Onion Soup
3 Tablespoons butter
2 lbs onions
1 teaspoon sugar
1 ½ teaspoons black pepper
3 cups beef stock
1 cup water
french baguette ( toasted )
Sliced provolone cheese
- Slice onions
- Melt butter in large pot
- Add onions, sugar, pepper cook 10 minutes
- Add beef stock and water
- Simmer at least 1 hour
- Place a few pieces of baguette in bowl, ladle soup on top
- Cover with cheese, set under broil until browned
