French Onion Soup

French Onion Soup

3 Tablespoons butter
2 lbs onions
1 teaspoon sugar
1 ½ teaspoons black pepper
3 cups beef stock
1 cup water
french baguette ( toasted )

Sliced provolone cheese

  1. Slice onions
  2. Melt butter in large pot
  3. Add onions, sugar, pepper cook 10 minutes
  4. Add beef stock and water
  5. Simmer at least 1 hour
  6. Place a few pieces of baguette in bowl, ladle soup on top
  7. Cover with cheese, set under broil until browned
