George’s Breakfast Bars

g break barThe fun thing about making your own nutri-grain bars is that you add ingredients that tickle your taste buds. Try these with chocolate chips & marshmallows,  or dried apricots & pecans, maybe a splash of molasses?

1cup oats
2/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
Dash allspice
1 cup applesauce
1/3 cup cranberries
¼ cup walnuts
¼ cup almonds

  1. heat milk with vanilla
  2. add oats, remove from heat
  3. in a large bowl, mix all the seasonings with the applesauce
  4. stir in dried fruit & nuts
  5. add oats
  6. pour into greased baking dish
  7. bake at 350 for 20 mins
